Buddhism in the Modern Society

Buddhism in the Modern Society has been much different from the Time of the Buddha. Buddhism today has a verse improvement through out the World and also in some areas Buddhism has been declined. There are many Buddhist places or ethnic groups as minority in Big Non Buddhist countries or Societies.

We know that Buddhism has flourished from Asia to Western countries. Asia has a very profound and healthy origin of Buddhism up to today. In Buddhism we can see many Schools of Buddhism. Mainly there are 3 major schools. 1. Mahayana Buddhism. 2. Theravada Buddhism and 3. Tantrayana or Vajrayana Buddhism. These three schools gave many sub-schools and they have different practices as well.

While giving a brief introduction to Buddhism, I would like to identify kinds of Buddhism schools of Buddhism that are found in Asia and rest part of the World. We can see countries like Thailand, Myanmar, Cambodia, Laos, India, Sri-Lanka, Bangladesh These are the major Theravada Buddhism or Theravada Buddhist schools. In Theravada again, they have nikayas like in Thailand they have 1. Dhammayut nikaya and 2. Mahayut nikaya.

As we look at the Theravada, we have to over look a little about Mahayana Schools as well..In my research i have got that Mahayana Practitioners are bigger than the Theravada and Vajrayana Practitioners. Countries like China, Japan (Zen Buddhism), Malaysia, South Korea, Vietnam (Theravada and Mahayana both). Mahayana Buddhism has flourished mostly to Western countries because of Chinese influence to Western Lives. Might be another Reasons how Buddhism approached to Western Countries but I would strongly believe that People in Western Countries were interested in Buddhist Meditations. Due to His Holiness Dalai Lama, many westerners were so much into Buddhism and into the path of Purification to both Physical and Mental Development.

What I understand about Buddhism in the modern society is that Buddhism has approached through millions of people who were never interested and never knew much about Buddhism. But today every ones are aware of Buddhism and also most like to practice Buddhist Meditation. As I have seen that Tourists and Western People coming to Thailand and doing meditation and joining in Buddhist meditation retreat to culture and control their mind and self. Long time ago, Buddhism was not much known to people but today people are flying to places where there is Buddhism from every parts of the World. People are coming to learn Buddhism to China, Thailand and Sri Lanka.

Dhammakaya Meditation center which is the most famous meditation center brings millions of people to practice Buddhism and learn Buddhism in Thailand. This Meditation center Has brought the reputation of the Buddhist people and practitioners. Dhammakaya helps every places and as well as it has many branches in almost every countries.

Buddhism can not be forced to follow. Buddhism could be followed only by willingness and free will. Buddhism has nothing to do as other religion and Buddhism doesn't boost itself saying our religion is BEST religion. Buddhism accepts any one whether you are non Buddhist, Muslim, christian or Hindu. It doesn't matter any one can follow Buddhism and there is no Problem for putting Buddhism into Real Daily Practice. Buddha did say, EHI PASSIKO...That means Welcome...Come and see. come and see what you can get in Buddhism and what you can learn and what you can see, after you come, seen and learn, if you think its useless, you can leave it and if you think its good its up to you and you can make your decisions and everything is your freewill on how long you like it and dislike it. if you want to know more about Buddhism you can ask me or If you want to do self study on Buddhism. I suggest you to read WHAT THE BUDDHA TAUGHT. Its very good good and it will be very understandable for you from reading this book.
